The person behind McClaud’s Cradle…
I’m Claudia and I live with Peter and our Australian Kelpie in Harderwijk, the Netherlands. For several years I’ve been very active with dogs. Especially with Agility. Since 2002 I began this sport with Labrador Perro. With his enormous eager to work and his fantastic speed, he’s no regular Labrador. So it took a whyle to get were we are now. Next to practising the sport myself, I’ve been working as a Agility Trainer at the local Club: KC North-West Veluwe. This I’ve done for several years with lots of joy.

Our Australian Kelpie, Jody, came to live with us in March 2005. We wanted a dog to have a nice petdog, but also a dog to work with. We wanted to do Agility with her, but also wanted to go cycling and running a lot. And because we don’t live that big, we couldn’t have a big breed like the Labrador. After a long time of thinking and talking, we’ve decided that it had to be an Australian Kelpie. At the National Agility Competition I did meet a few of the finest examples of this breed, and fell hopelessly in love with Flo. This girl was really eager to work in the course, does everything she can to please her handler, and did this also excellent. We made contact with Flo’s owners and they told us Flo was going to have her second litter. They wrote us on their waiting list and Januari 7th 2005 Jody and her litter-mates were born. She became a real clone of her mum. In exterieur, in character and in movement.

When she was 6 months old, we began the Agility Training.. In this we were carefully with her, because she still very little and still growing. We learned her to run between the jumps, without really taking a jump. She learned taking the contacts, whyle the contacts were lying on the ground. She learned the weave, without having to bent her back around the pawls and so on. When she was one year old, she started jumping, the contacts were build up peace by peace and she learned to criss cross the pawls. When she was 19 months old, she competed in the National Agility Competition at KC Gooi & Eemland. Next to the Agility training and competition, Jody did Doggy dance Freestyle, Sheepherding and Obedience.
